THE DESERT HAS ALOT TO SAY

INTERCULTURALISM IS A FUNDAMENTAL PART OF BEING A DESIGNER AND IT WILL HELP BROADEN YOUR DESIGN SPECTRUM.THE AZTEC PRINT THAT IS SEEN ON TODAYS STREET WAS INSPIRED BY MAYAN CULTURE, WITHOUT INTERCULTURALISM FASHION WOULD BE QUITE GRIM.

THE AMOUNT OF INSPIRATION ONE CAN OBTAIN THROUGH A SINGLE CULTURE THAT IS FOREIGN TO YOU IS INFINITE; THE TRADITIONS, CLOTHING, LANDSCAPES, FLORA, ANIMALS, RELIGIONS, COLOUR SCHEMES, ARCHITECTURE... THE LIST GOES ON. BUT IT GOES BEYOND THAT.

ANTHROPOLOGISTS AREN’T CONSIDERED TRUE ANTHROPOLOGISTS UNTIL THEY SPEND FIVE YEARS IN THE COMMUNITY THAT THEY STUDY. CULTURES HAVE MANY, MANY LAYERS AND LEVELS. WHEN YOU FIRST VIST OR LIVE IN A DIFFERENT COMMUNITY YOU ONLY GET TO SCRATCH THE SURFACE OF THE PLACE YOU ARE IN. YOU SEE THE SOCIAL ETIQUETTE BUT NOT WHAT DRIVES IT. THERE IS MORE TO A PLACE AND ITS PEOPLE THAN MEETS THE EYE.

A LACK OF KNOWLEDGE MAKES PEOPLE AFRAID OF WHAT IS DIFFERENT AND WE NEED TO BREAK THAT BOUNDARY WE LITERALLY HAVE A WORLD OF INSPIRATION AT OUR FINGERTIPS.

BIG IN JAPAN - INTERNATIONALISM

Being 2013, internationalism is inevitable.
With all the communication platforms at our fingertips, and the plethora of information known as the World Wide Web, it is actually hard not to know what is happening on the other side of the planet.
We have evolved from using letters and typewriters to Facebook and MySpace (if anyone actually uses MySpace anymore)

To design something and not have some form of cultural reference is unavoidable, culture is everywhere we turn!
In the streets, in our home!
Even the device you are using right now to view this blog is most likely not constructed in your home country.

And we as mammals, will breed.
And we are now in a time where interracial breeding is the social norm.
As the decades go on and races all over the world continue to interact, we will all be one familiar race. There will be no "yellow", "black" or "white".
To reiterate, internationalism really is inevitable.
